Panama Canal

The  issue in the political cartoon above is that Roosevelt was reckless when trying to gain the Panama Canal. For example, Roosevelt is pulling a ship a ship through the Caribbean in order to make the canal. The cartoonist's message is that Roosevelt acted like a big brother and was thoughtless. The cartoon shows Teddy Roosevelt as a giant that Just steps over the sea. I understand how some people may agree with Roosevelt's methods. An argue may be that he just wanted to help America's economy. The cartoonist used exaggeration. Teddy Roosevelt is made larger to look more powerful and alarming. The author also uses symbolism. The boat that Roosevelt is pulling represents the American army and all the advantages to the U.S.A when building the canal. This supports my position on imperialism because I support the Anti-Imperialists. The cartoon shows Roosevelt and his ways of influence in a very negative way.
